Use 'em at home or at school, Sonic school supplies are great. They're also pretty collectible, because they often feature many different characters & are generally inexpensive upon release. This page will have ONLY modern supplies. If you don't need school, and just need some place to store your gear, why not try handy boxes, totes, school bags and binders? Kickin' It Insulated Lunch Box Sonic This soft-sides lunch box is called "Kickin' It", and it's another solid entry in Accessory Innovations school lunch/school bag line. The modern Sonic art is big on the front, with a curve of rings and some primary colors circles over the blue/white chackered background. The sides & back have light blue/white logo printed fabric.
This is the usual rectangle shape with insulated soft sides and a padded handle. It is confirmed at 22 dollars at Amazon in winter 2024.
Team Sonic Notebook The "Team Sonic Note Book" is probably the most high quality item in the line of Innovative Designs. (Most of their very prolific items are on Page 14 of USA School Supplies here at Gear)
The notebook is quite deluxe, with lots of attention to detail and great quality. It's a spiral bound, with plastic front and back covers that are different. The interior has either rings or Sonic & rings in color on each page bottom, as well as the page lines. It also has plastic divider pages in it with nicely set super-close-up character profile portraits AND has each character as a plastic tab at the top to turn right to the pages you want.
The front has STK with "Team Sonic" and the back has "Final Battle" with Sonic vs Shadow. The whole thing feels quality, but probably shouldn't go in a school bag because of the tabs at the top. It's thick too, with lots of pages.
This can rarely be found at TJ Maxx (clearing store) and if you do, it's a real treat at either 3.99 or 4.99. It's more easily found on Amazon at about 11 dollars...and it's still a pretty good price for it. This is in the Sonicgear collection.
Vanilla Underground School Sets Bags Vanilla Underground seems new to a Classic Sonic License in 2024. They use it to make these 2 school sets and release them onto Amazon (and probably elsewhere, but where?) in Winter 2024.
The left set is all light blue, with a Sonic forward-facing face theme. The school bag has the classic logo, and its exterior pocket is round with the face on it as a large plastic cover that goes off the sides. The lunch bag is a soft sides-bag shape with just the face large on the front and the logo on the velcro flap. It has a clear/generic water bottle & a Sonic/Tails faces theme zip top pencil case.
The right set is all blue/camoflage themed. The school bag here has fist down/crouched Japanese art Sonic as a
thick/shiny plastic overlay. The soft sides bag-shaped lunch carrier has just his face with the logo & the zip top pencil case has only the logo and no Sonic image. The water bottle here is black, and it does have a forward-facing Sonic face on there. Both of these are 33 dollars for each matching set.
Lounge Fly Classic Sonic Back Pack Details A Lounge Fly School Supply- Here's a backpack for 2024
Lounge Fly is a company that makes higher end, higher quality goods for lots of different fanchises. In 2024, they get a classic Sonic license, and used it to make this backpack, and a wallet. They labeled it "plush", but that refers to the furry soft fuzzy fabric the front of the bag is made of (and not that it's one of those novelty doll-is-a-purse things) It is costly, at least 60 dollars, but as you can see here there's plenty of added detail and quality materials going into it.
The front of the pack has a forward facing classic face as a 3d flap thing for the top, and embroidered hands details with a ring for the outer round pocket. Their logo & the Sonic logo is on a molded plastic tile. The back has Sonic running on top of a giant ring as an added design. The interior is also all Sonic fabric, with all-over design of running Sonic, rings, and Chaos Emeralds. The straps and back look leather, and the zippers are large/heavy metal. The side pocket also features metal grommits. This is a factory photo.
Funko Pop Style Sonic School Bag
Funko Pop...they're about more than just little dead-eyed goblin head square simple figures, now here comes merchandise: a simple school bag
This is a faux-leather classic (well, ish) style bag themed after the Sonic Funko Pop figure. It has the face on the top part, and then a belly dot on the rectangle outer pocket. It has a red zipper track, red back straps and a red hang loop. The zippers are normal metal. The quality of the materials here will be fairly thick/good, as Funko usually chooses decent quality material. It should be about 30 dollars.
However...isn't this a bit of an odd design choice (and I don't mean their style) its obviously supposed to be "The bag IS HIM" style, but then why cut off the ears? Just make the 'face' area smaller. Then, really, putting a blood red zipper on the body part of the character? Are you dissecting it when you open it? It just doesn't make sense to put that "the character is now a bag", just...put the character on the bag! This is confirmed at Target stores in spring 2024
Funko Pop Tin Lunch Box Accompanying the above bag is this school tin lunch box.
This is a classic/old fashion style lunch carrier with the pop up plastic/metal hinge handle and snap clip on the top. It has a picture of the 'figure 8 running' Sonic pop figure drawn on the front in a GHZ style background. The modern logo is very large, placed in the background above the waterfall.
It's an ok design, if you enjoy the look of the Funko Pop Sonic.
Tin boxes: You actually have to be pretty careful with these so you don't scuff the paint because they're really hard to fix. It's actually not too recomended to use for lunches because it has no insulation. It is better used for storage of Sonic items.
Hallmark Tape Dispenser Now here's something fairly odd...
It's a classi Sonic themed figural tape dispenser. Hallmark (yes the card company) makes it in 2024, and is attempting to sell it for 45 dollars. Which is a LOT for a desk top accessory. Especially one with as many...dubious decisions as this one has.
First of all, it's not made of durable plastic, it's made of their faux stonewear white hard but brittle material. There are several reports of this arriving shipped and broken. Not a good choice of materials for a figure with a tiny thin nose, pointy ears and feet & having 2 big parts attached by 1 little stick leg piece. Then, why is the tape in his head? What part of him SPINS??? The FEET! You could have had the 'spinny feet' animated part attached to the spindle for the tape so every time you pulled it, it looked like he was running & have it make more sense.
Next, who is this supposed to be for?
Kids can't have it because it is fragile, but it is 45 dollars so adults won't want to spend that much for a tape dispenser. Yes it does need to be heavy (so pulling the tape won't move it) but making the base heavy and durable is the solution rather than making the whole thing out of brittle faux-ceramic.
This is a reminder that not everything Sonic is a good idea or a good rate: and SonicGear will call it out. Is this going to end up rare? It could...because it has the ingredients like high initial selling price, reputation for being brittle, and a 'non-needed' house hold item.
Amy Rose Modern Face Backpack Pink Accessory Innovations is on another Sonic kick, this time with character themed backpacks, and Amy Rose seems to be their first one out of the gate.
And...it's actually pretty good! Because they are NOT making 'the character IS the pack", instead it's a portrait of Amy on the top part, with added flaps that stick up off the pack making it a little bit 3D or 'popping out' instead of some stupid nonsense distorted shape. They use modern Amy so she has nice detail embroidered on for the eye color, mouth, and bangs. Notice they do include the red headband, by placing it further back on the pack. The whole thing is the same color of pink all over. It has her name spelled out SA1 style in the bottom corner, and the zipper pull is a big Amy face silouette.
With details like the headband and zipper pull, plus the actual effort in the design, Accessory Innovations does really well here. And they'll need to, because it is 40 dollars at Amazon in Spring 2024. This one's a must-grab for bigtime Amy fans though, as no other character is featured, and she's the star of the show!
Amy Rose Pink Checker Notebook A pink notebook for Amy Fans!
Amy is the star of the cover of this plastic-cover, spiral-bound notebook. It uses an SA1 style square portrait & her name at the bottom in the logo font. Here, she's shown winking with her arms down. The cover is otherwise pink with thin stripes & 2 checker bands at the top and bottom.
The paper inside is likely normal/lined paper. This is highly likely to have been a Sega Shop Online item, but unknown when they released it. (And so, likely also probably a bit costly for what it is)
Backpack Shadow Acc Innov Face Accessory Innovations continues their 'face top backpacks' for single characters in Spring 2024 with a Shadow one. They're all the same (Better) style where the forward-facing-face is on the top part & the details are 3D flaps things, but done more in the style of "its popping off of the edges" rather than the stupid looking one of "This wrong shaped item is somehow the characters' head". It worked ok with Amy (above) and so it does all right with Shadow here as well.
Of course, it's supported by their good job with crisp embroidered lines & details, the SA1 style label square in the corner and the added face silouette zipper pull accessory. Also of course...since it's Shadow this one is somehow more expensive than all the others at 40 dollars. It has been (so far) only confirmed for sale at Amazon
