Sonic Comics Title Card
Doujinshi are Fan-Comics that are 'small press' published, often in Japan.
The comics usually have professional or nearly-professional levels for their art, with color covers and black and white pages. These contain stories that are much like fan-fiction, in comic book format. Often, they are used to explore plot points not taken in the official series, and share this with other fans.

Doujinshi are sometimes written and drawn by 1 fan, but most of the time a "Circle" does them. A Circle is a gang of artists and writers who get together to publish the book. That's usually the name you see credited on their covers. Doujinshi are sold over the internet from web pages, and also at large conventions which draw thousands to stadiums in Japan!

Why aren't there any/many Doujinshi outside of Japan?
That is due to lawyers. Here in the USA companies do not realize that the works of fans are a type of advertising that is free. If someone draws and distributes your character for free, it is like marketing it to other people. It is also a form of copyright infringement. Japan seems to overlook this because it does not really cause a video game (for example) company to lose tons of money when someone publishes a fan-produced comic book using the game's characters.

HAZARD
Some Doujinshi may be pr0n in nature. With nakeds or 'mature themes/scenes'. That is why it's important to always ask about what type of book you're getting, before you buy. Usually the cover will indicate, but not always, so make sure to ask the seller if it's ok to see if you are under 18 years old.

CAUTION:
If you are offended by images of UNDERWEAR or CENSOR BARS or STRANGE EXPRESSIONS do not scroll further. Nothing on this page is rated above PG-13 BUT it has images of things which are rated R that are all censored up.

As usual, SonicGear is safe for all ages, but not all items are! This page is here to explain them BEFORE you buy them. You are bound to encounter them anyway if you are on the web, so it is best to know about everything before you buy it.

AnthroTama Cover
Here is Anthrotama, featuring Rouge the Bat.

'Anthro' is short for Anthropomorphic which is just a term for animals with human traits. You can see the artist's style isn't the same as Segas', and likely the whole book is done in this style.

It is not known what type of stories this book has.

This is "Furry Bomb"
It is an "X" rated series! The author tries different romance stories using the Sonic characters. The covers are color, with the inside pages being black/white. You can see the quality of their art/style. These were all apparently done after Sonic Adventure 1, due to the character variety inside.

This book series sometimes uses Sonic as a "promised hook" to get you to buy it, then substitutes unrelated things which are X-rated. Some books of this series do not contain anything Sonic at all.

There are several "releases" of this book (ie. 1.5, 2.5) which only re-use old stories and add few new items, another ploy to trick fans into buying. A hazard of Doujinshi is that they are NOT regulated, so tricksters can try dirty ploys to lure people to buy....

There is even a page in the book that introduces her, and it will appear here if it is translated. The whole thing is in Japanese, so you can't read it...but there isn't a whole lot of dialogue. As a collector's item, it is somewhat rare as not many were made, and the author is picky after having been treated wrong or plagerized.
The first issue here has Sally on the cover, the way she's drawn in Archie comics. (They kept the style) The book has 2...well, they're not stories as there doesn't seem to be much plot. But it has 2 series of pannels with different characters. The first has Tails/Sonic/Amy and the next has Rouge/Sally. The Rouge and Sally seems to have a bit more plot.
This is #1.5
It has a non-PG-13 cover. That is why the rest of the picture is missing. This book appears here as a warning NOT to buy it. Notice that the girl on the cover does not belong in any Sonic games--well neither do most of the stories! This book uses Sonic as a "promised hook" to get you to buy it, then substitutes unrelated things which are X-rated.

There are several "releases" of this book (ie. 1.5, 2.5) which only re-use old stories and add few new items, another ploy to trick fans into buying. A hazard of Doujinshi is that they are NOT regulated, so tricksters can try dirty ploys to lure people to buy....

Furry Bomb Cover Notice that this strange girl's hair resembles Tails's Tails? Why? Because she's actually from the Bomberman Jetters Series, which is totally unrelated. There is also a catfish-man scientist who didn't appear anywhere else, either.
Here are the rest of the covers to the Furry Bomb series. Why is Rouge so surprised? The skirt like item is her outfit from where she appeared in Sonic Riders--so you know a likely date for the book.
There isn't actually anthing X-Rated at cover #4, however, a "rude gesture" is covered by the censor plate. (Tails isn't a bird, but he's flipping the bird here)
The Circle Palcomix did Sonic XXX Project
This is obviously a play on "Sonic X" but the title tells you that "Under 18 Shouldn't Read" More underwear on the cover (don't get offended now!) This one has English dialogue and contains all the characters you see on the cover in fairly simple plots. The book isn't very long. As you can see from the page, all the interior art is colored as well, which is rare for a Doujinshi.
Here, Amy looks to Shadow when Sonic has run off again. What will happen? Nothing too interesting or dramatic, story-wise.
Well the 2nd one really went all for the pr0n.
There wasn't so much as 1 page that was post-able, even with censor blocks to retain the PG-13! Even the cover has gone awry. What's on the cover? Chaos (the first form) Amy, and Tikal. The story is a bit like the first one, with wayward Amy stumbling onto various scenes.
The curious theme is that it portrays ancient echidna society as not seeing things as "Dirty" or "Forbidden" but just normal and encourages everyone to do the same. It is a curiously progressive view, but still the current standards don't match it.
The Palcomix Circle can be commissioned.
Since it's not based in Japan, this circle can be commissioned to do books or (likely) art. Here, someone has commissioned a story featuring their own fan-character an ice-wielding cat. He fights and tries out a romance with Blaze the Cat in this side-story type comic book. All the dialogue here is in English also.
Amy Untold Doujinshi Cover This book is called "Amy Untold".
This is a Hungarian doujinshi, proving that not just the USA and Japan can make their own type of fan comics. This one is unusual as well because all of the interior art features full shading and not screen-tones. It also contains several color splash pages. This one is still "X Rated" inside, but the focus is more on the plot than just coming up with random scenes. The cover says "For Adults Only" and also "Finally" as a small subtitle while Amy's dress is in the wind.
Mor information and interior shots are available for this book. They're still all PG-13 though, so to see this added info and larger cover art, click the photo of the cover. Information, art, dialogue, and page-shots all provided by TC, the author.
Sluts Train Car Graffiti Badness Can there be such a thing as BAD fan objects?
Usually...no...but in cases where someone makes a fan item out of something they really shouldn't...it has to be said "Don't graffiti on things that aren't yours", and this is an exact case of that. Honoring Sonic through art & items is great, when you own those items.
Here, someone has made a very large graffiti on the side of a train car that they don't own. So, it's not the right thing to do. However, it is somewhat popular on the internet, so it's at least got to be seen here. They have done a tidy fan art of classic 'finger waving' Sonic & then used a font similar to the Sega logo font to spell out "SLUTS" all along their newly created white background. Is that the person's name? Why write that? Why add Sonic? It sure is a lot of trouble to go to, those train car items are really huge, it must have taken a long time of not getting caught at it to add that much paint & do as good a job with the somewhat complicated font.
Another badness:
To wreck items is to reflect badly on the fandom. If someone sees it and thinks "Oh those Sonic fans are a no-good bunch, Sonic must not be good also"--that's really sad. Instead of promoting him, it kind of...anti-promotes. Of course, it can't be credited because the whole point of these things is never finding out who did it.

This is on the PG-13 page because they wrote a sort of swear on the train car but the image is popular on the internet so it has to be cataloged on Gear somewhere.
